This I hope will enable us to realize the gravity of the problems, the real needs of our tribal brethren which may help in the formulation and implementation of proper welfare and development schemes from which these poor souls may harvest the real and maximum benefits and thereby the purpose for which these schemes have been implemented, will achieve a real success. Thus these backward people who for centuries are remaining below the poverty line and are submerged in the sea of the sea of crisis, may see the ray of hope for a brighter and better prospects, if not for them, at least for their further progeny. About The Author:- Dr. Manis Kumar Raha graduated rom the University of Calcutta in 1956 and passed Special Honours in Anthropology in 1958. He obtained his M. Sc. (1960) and Ph.D. Degrees (1971) in Anghropology from this University. He served the Cultural Research Institute, Government of West Bengal 1962-70 before joining Anthropological Survey of India in 1970 as an Anghropologist (Cultural).
