However, an axiomatic statement of a given field of philosophy appears possible, the axioms are found able to accommodate some indeter?minacy in the definitions of entities and to pro?vide at least a mathematical structure to a field of philosophy. Since the argument can no longer be rigorous, it becomes simple and displays at a glance the structure of the field in the clarity of mathematical logic. Then logical structures of eight representative world philosophies are obtained from their respective axioms. The main advantage of axiomatic state?ment is that, as in mathematics, variations in the axioms of a given philosophy can be sought and then every new compatible set of axioms be?comes the source of a new philosophy. Philosophy becomes open to new speculations of thought and that by itself is their noteworthy contribution. Two such variations in the Aris?totelean and the Bhagawadgita philosophies are also indicated. About The Author: Pritam Sen , born in 1915 at Dehra Dun, U.P., obtained Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics in 1942 from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., under Professor H.A. Bethe, and was a member of the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton, under Professor J.R. Oppenheimer in 1950-51. He has worked at several Indian universities. He was a Scientific Officer at the National Physical Laboratory from 1956 to 1965, and has publish?ed about 15 papers in field theory.
